It was easy for Arsenal – Pochettino reflects on 5-0 defeat

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Chelsea failed to show a desire to win after suffering a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night in the English Premier League.

The Blues seemed to have no clue about Arsenal’s game plan and were dominated in humiliating fashion.

Speaking to the press after the match, Pochettino expressed his disappointment with Chelsea’s performance, labeling it as a lack of urgency and desire to compete despite having a fine start at the early minutes of the game.

“Really disappointed.

Because I think in the way that we started the game, never happens, to start so soft and so sloppy and then we concede a goal and there was time for us to recover for this goal, and yeah the first half we compete after 10 to 15 minutes.

“We talked about at halftime that we cannot start the second half how we started the game but we did the same with showing too low energy and we didn’t compete in the way that we needed to.

It was so easy for Arsenal to punish us in the game and for us it was so difficult”, he said.

In the space of three days, Chelsea have suffered two defeats and have conceded six goals in the period, and their loss to Arsenal means they are may lose a place in European competitions next season.

The Blues will however, be aiming to bounce back to winning ways when they face another tough task in Aston Villa on Saturday, April 27, at Villa Park.
