Maa Lydia provides students with free buses home

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, has provided funding for the free transportation home of Level 100 students of the University of Ghana and Accra College of Education.

The gesture, as she explains, is part of her usual bonding with the students and was done in partnership with Infinity Transport Services.

Students from Tamale, Kumasi, Winneba, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Konongo, Ejisu, Abuakwa and Takoradi, among others, became beneficiaries of the gesture on Saturday, April 20.

Those at the University of Ghana campus were picked up near the Athletics Oval with the rest to be picked up at Pent, Bani and Evandy hostels.

Those at the Accra College of Education were picked up at the Cafeteria.

“Most of them try to work hard to take care of themselves through school and around this time there is something they call ‘Wahala Week’s, they run out of many things,” the Member of Parliament, who is also the Minister-designate for Sanitation and Water Resources, said.

“As a mother, I come in every now and then to support, so this is just one of the supports I give to our students who are in need.

They have to go back home and things are tight for them.”

Most of the buses are from VIP with passenger capacity ranging between 35 and 50.

Some of the students expressed utmost appreciation to the MP for her kind gesture.

“She has provided free bus for us and we say Almighty Allah bless her and increase her in riches so that she will do more of this,” said Fati Bintu Musah, a Level 100 student.
