‘It’s time for him to step aside’ – IES Boss calls for immediate removal of Energy Minister

The Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), Nana Amoasi VII, is waging calls for the immediate removal of Energy Minister Dr.

Matthew Opoku from office over what he describes as a “deteriorating energy crisis.”

Given the current status of the energy sector, the IES supports calls for the minister’s dismissal, as they contend that immediate action is required.

The energy expert, in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM, expressed dissatisfaction with the minister’s attitude in the ongoing power crisis, emphasising his perceived lack of action.

Furthermore, he questioned the minister’s motivation for taking on such a significant job by drawing attention to his seeming disconnection from the reality of the energy issue.

“At this juncture, with the situation we find ourselves in, where there’s no electricity supply, what role does the minister serve?

Is it too much to ask?”

“In all honesty, as a prepaid consumer, I’ve paid for the power that should be provided to me.

I’ve even paid for the meter installation, which is essentially a contractual agreement.

“If I’m not receiving the power, the least I expect is some communication about when to expect it.
