Erik ten Hag slams media for reaction to FA Cup win

Erik ten Hag has expressed his disappointment with the English media’s comments and reaction after Manchester United edged Coventry on penalties in their FA Cup clash on Sunday.

After dominating with a 3-0 lead after an hour of play, the Red Devils lost their grip on the game, conceding three goals in the final 30 minutes to force extra time.

In a dramatic turn of events, Coventry appeared to secure a last-minute winner in extra time, only for it to be disallowed for offside.

Erik ten Hag’s side however managed to beat Coventry 4-2 on penalties, yet the media was clearly disappointed with the Red Devils’ performance, labeling their lack of focus and dominance as a thing of worry.

Ten Hag however disapproves of the treatment of his team by the press, labeling it as a disgrace.

“The reaction, the comments after Coventry game… that was a disgrace.

Top football is about results, we made it to a final and we deserved it not only by this game but also the other games”, he said.

Manchester United look unlikely to make the Premier League top four to seal UEFA Champions League football come end of the season given their recent poor form characterised with the squandering of leads in crucial games.

However, ten Hag’s side have a chance to avenge their 2-1 loss at Wembley to Manchester City last season come May 25, 2024.

Securing a second title in his second season could solidify Ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

With the triumph against Coventry City, they now have an opportunity as they prepare to take on local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
