President Akufo-Addo has congratulated the President-elect of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election.

This is contained in a statement issued on March 28, 2024.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Ghana, I extend warmest congratulations to the President-Elect of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, on his decisive victory in the presidential election of Sunday, 24th March 2024.It is well-deserved, and a vindication of the trust and confidence reposed in him, and in his programme of economic transformation,” the President wrote.

President Akufo-Addo said, “I am hopeful that, under his leadership, Senegal will continue on the path of progress and prosperity, and strengthen further her position as a beacon of democracy and stability on the African continent.

He also used the opportunity to commend the outgoing President, His Excellency Macky Sall, “for his contribution to the progress and development of Africa, and for overseeing the conduct of peaceful, credible and transparent elections in Senegal.

Senegal, West Africa, and, indeed, Africa, are grateful.”

“I look forward to working closely with President-Elect Faye to enhance Ghanaian-Senegalese relations, improve the living conditions of our two peoples, advance their mutual interests, and promote the wider interests of the African peoples.

Warm congratulations, once again, to President-Elect Bassirou Diomaye Faye, and to the good people of Senegal.
