The Ghana Water Company Limited says due to some technical challenges being experienced at their Weija Treatment Plant, there has been a shortfall in the volumes of water currently being produced.

This has resulted in customers experiencing low pressures of water flow in taps and erratic flow in other areas.

Residents of Shukala, La Paz, Weija and its environs continue to experience acute water shortage due to the technical challenges being experienced at the Weija treatment plant.

Some residents of these areas say they haven’t taken their bath in days as a result of the water shortage.

They also have had to buy water at high cost.

“I have had to spend so much on sachet water”, a resident said.

At Bubuashie, Kaneshie and their environs, residents had to wake up at dawn to fetch water which flowed so slowly, it took about 30 minutes to fill a ‘jerry can’.

It would be recalled that in a statement released on Friday, November 3, 2023, Mr.

Stanley Martey, Chief Manager, PR & Communications at GWCL, said “Due to some technical challenges being experienced at our Weija Treatment Plant, there has been a shortfall in the volumes of water currently being produced which has resulted in customers experiencing low pressures in the flow to their properties and erratic flow in other areas.

“The situation being experienced now is a combination of factors, including faulty equipment, increased demand, routine maintenance works and some unforeseen circumstances,” he added.

He, however, assured that its engineers are actively working to address the challenge to bring respite to affected areas.
