Afriyie Acquah joins FC Chitwan in Nepal on short-term contract

Former Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has completed a move to Nepal by joining FC Chitwan on a short-term contract.

Acquah’s transfer to FC Chitwan was officially announced on Monday, along with another signing, former Kotoko defender Yussif Mubarik, who has also inked a contract with the Nepalese club.

Acquah had been unattached since his departure from Iraqi club Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in July 2023 when his contract expired.

Earlier in the year, he had moved to Iraq from Al-Batin FC, where he featured in eight matches in the Saudi Pro League.

Before his time in Iraq, the versatile midfielder had plied his trade in the Turkish Super Lig, playing for Yeni Malatyaspor, where he made 65 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

With a career that has taken him to various clubs, including AC Parma, Torino, Empoli, Palermo, and Hoffenheim, Afriyie Acquah brings a wealth of experience to FC Chitwan.

He has 42 international caps for Ghana since his debut on March 1, 2012, in an international friendly match against Chile.

Acquah scored his only international goal when the Black Stars beat Malawi in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.

His move to Nepal marks a new chapter in his career, as he looks to contribute his skills and experience to FC Chitwan in the Nepalese football landscape.
