South Dayi Member of Parliament, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is yet to receive copies of the provisional votes register that the Electoral Commission (EC) is exhibiting today.

He described the EC’s action of not providing the party with copies of the register as lawlessness.

“I can confirm that NDC & other parties not in Govt have not received copies of the Provisional Register contrary to Reg 22(2) of CI 91 as amended by CI 126 yet EC is proceeding to exhibit the Provisional Voters Register [Friday, November 3].

See r.22(2) of CI91,” he tweeted.

The Electoral Commission will be exhibiting the provisional voter register from today Friday, November 3 to Tuesday, November 7 at all 38,622 polling stations across the country.

This forms part of preparations ahead of the district-level elections to be held on December 19.

According to the EC, the exercise is to allow prospective voters to verify details, that is name, age, and sex.

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, November 1, a Deputy Chair of the EC, Samuel Tettey, said “As part of the commission’s preparation towards the conduct of the district level elections slated for 19 December 2023, the commission will display or exhibit the provisional voters register at all the 38,622 polling stations across the country.

“The Commission will therefore exhibit the provisional voters register simultaneously at all polling stations which will serve as exhibition centres throughout the country from Friday 3rd November to Tuesday 7th November 2023.”

“The exhibition exercise will start at 7  a.m.

The purpose of the exhibition exercise is to allow prospective voters to verify details.

“That is name, age, sex, etc as captured during the registration exercise, and make requests for amendments or insertions where necessary.

It will also help voters to know their polling stations on the day of voting,” he stated.
