Ghana to play USA in friendly in October

The Black Stars are scheduled to face the United States of America in an international friendly match in October 2023 to prepare both teams for important upcoming fixtures.

In a series of friendly matches announced by the United States Men’s National Team Ghana and Germany are included as part of the Stars and Stripes’ preparations for the quarterfinal matches of the CONCACAF Nations League in November.

The friendly against Ghana is set to take place on October 17, 2023, at the Geodis Park in Nashville.

The last meeting between Ghana and the United States dates back to 2017 when the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Pratt & Whitney Stadium.

However, Ghana holds fond memories of past encounters with the Stars and Stripes, having defeated them twice on the world stage, leading to their eliminations in the 2006 and 2010  World Cups.

For Ghana, this friendly match serves multiple purposes.

It allows them to gauge their team’s readiness for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in 2024 if they qualify, which is scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast next year.

Moreover, the friendly game against the United States will serve as vital preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, set to commence in November 2023.
