GECA calls for law enforcement against influx of fake electrical materials on the Ghanaian market

The Ghana Electrical Contractors Association (GECA) has called on the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Energy Commission to speed up the implementation of the law on electrical accessories.

In a press statement signed by the association’s president Awal Sakib Mohammed dated Friday 26 May 2023 cautioned electrical practitioners and the general public to be aware of the influx of substandard and fake electrical products in the Ghanaian Market.

According to GECA, dealing in substandard or fake electrical accessories is worse than dealing in illicit drugs since it has the likelihood of robbing people off their lives, hard-earned investments, health and wealth.

“Dealing in substandard electrical materials is akin and even worse than dealing in illicit substances, as it has the likelihood of robbing people of off their hard-earned investments, health and even loved ones” the statement conveyed.
