#VGMAOnTv3: King Promise wins his first-ever award at the VGMA with Best Afropop/ Afrobeat Artiste of the year.

Ghanaian singer and songwriter, has won his first-ever award after six years in the industry at the (VGMA) with the.

The announcement was made by AJ Sarpong and the Deputy Ambassador of the EU to Ghana at the 24th edition of the awards.

King Promise, whose real name is Gregory Bortey Newman, has been making waves in the Ghanaian music industry since the release of his hit single “Oh Yeah” in 2017.

He has since released several other hit songs, including “Tokyo” featuring Nigerian artist Wizkid and “CCTV” featuring Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.

The category of Best Afropop/Afrobeat Artiste of the Year was highly competitive, with other nominees including Camidoh, Gyakie, Kidi, Wendy Shay and Kelvyn Boy

However, King Promise emerged as the winner, much to the delight of his fans and well-wishers.

In his acceptance speech, Nana Ama Mcbrown who took the song on his behalf thanked his fans and everyone who has supported him throughout his musical journey.

Berla Mundi who also couldn’t hide her excitement wrote on twitter, “King Promise wins a VGMA….

The VGMA is one of the biggest music awards ceremonies in Ghana, celebrating the best in Ghanaian music.

The event is organized by Charterhouse Ghana and has been running since 2000.

The awards ceremony features performances from some of Ghana’s biggest musical acts, as well as award presentations to deserving musicians and industry players.

With this win, King Promise has cemented his place as one of the top musicians in Ghana and is expected to continue to make waves in the music industry.
