Vice President of Imani Africa, Mr Bright Simons has said there was no new major policy announcement in ’s address to the nation on Sunday October 30, to tackle the economic challenges.

“We have gone to the Fund to repair, in the short term, our public finances, and restore our balance of payments, whilst we continue to work on the medium to long-term structural changes that are at the heart of our goal of constructing a resilient, robust Ghanaian economy, and building a Ghana Beyond Aid.”

But he did reveal the govt’s negotiation posture at the IMF: the govt wants to use 6 years to fix its unsustainable debt & doesn’t want debt restructuring.
