Akoma FM to stage Verna Ashanti Marathon each year | 3News.com

Management of Akoma FM, a subsidiary of Media General, has assured patrons of the just-ended Verna Ashanti Marathon that the event has come to stay hence the event will be flagged as a household annual ritual.

Regional Manager of Akoma FM Mathias Asante, while addressing participants of the event, explained that “we have realized that the people of Kumasi are more interested in the marathon so we will do as they wish

We will ensure this project doesn’t end here so at least once in a year we will have this marathon event at least once in a year”.

The Akoma FM Verna Ashanti Marathon, which was described by the participants as crowd puller and intervention to revive the dwindling hopes of athletes in Ashanti Region and beyond, brought together over thousand athletes who participated in the event.

The maiden edition of Akoma FM’s Verna Ashanti Marathon kick started at Kumasi City Mall at about 7:00 am then it went through some principal streets of Kumasi through Abrepo Junction, Ahodwo roundabout, Asafo and ended at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where the aerobic session was duly done and the presentation of awards to participants followed .
