We’ll recpature Ejura-Sekyeredumase parliamentary seat - NPP

The New Patriotic Party says it is poised to recapture the Ejura-Sekyeredumase parliamentary seat in the Ashanti region, which the party lost to the National Democratic Congress in the 2016 elections.

As part of strategies to win back votes in the constituency, the party is holding its regional delegates conference in Ejura to elect regional executives.

Some top officials of the party say the peaceful nature of the on-going conference is evident of unity in spite of perception of division among some section of the public.

Dr Andy Appiah-Kubi, MP for Asante Akyim North entreated delegates to vote base on competence.

He said the choice made by the delegates in the election would be crucial in determining the fate of the party in the 2020 election.

Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor tasked both winning and losing candidates to come together and propel the agenda of the party.

Meanwhile, the Police in the Ashanti Region say they will deal ruthlessly with anyone who will misbehave at the ongoing congress to elect regional executives for the New Patriotic Party.

200 uniform and plain cloth officers have been deployed to maintain order at the event grounds.

The party’s private security is also complementing the efforts by the police for a successful event.

Mampong divisional police commander, Chief Superintendent Wisdom Lavoe, has assured that his men are brace up to prevent any eventuality on the congress ground.

40 candidates are vying to 10 regional executive positions in the Ashanti region.

Over 900 delegates are also expected to vote to choose the executives.

Members of Parliament from all 47 constituencies in the region and other supporters of the party are converging at the College of Agriculture Park at Ejura for the congress.
