BOST Lawyer Dismisses ‘Deceptive’ Report
General Counsel and Head of Legal Services at Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST), Harriet Amoah, has debunked a report by Whatsup News Ghana that she asked Managing Director of BOST, George Mensah-Oakley, not to pay $3 million to Springfield Energy.

The report, published on Sunday, September 16, 2018, alleged that “Springfield and BOST have been battling over the payment of interest on losses suffered by Springfield between 2013 and 2015, of which BOST has paid the principal sum, amounting to over $11 million.”

“Documents intercepted by Whatsup News indicate that Springfield’s claims could not be true, as BOST’s external advisors, Nsiah Akuette & Co, Mrs. Amoah, have all agreed that Springfield did not deserve the money they claimed through to the highest court. So far, Springfield has been paid over $6 million as interest on the $11 million claimed from 2013 to 2016,” the report alleged.

Ms Amoah, who is the wife of Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, O.B. Amoah, in a rejoinder to Managing Director of Whatsup News, Raphael Ofori-Adeniran, said the false publication is intended to impugn her impeccable record at BOST for the past 14 years.”

“The publication has impugned my hard-won reputation as a lawyer with 25 years standing at the Bar, and also seeks to soil my impeccable record at BOST for the past 14 years with the insinuations cast therein.”

According to her, “The story is also deceptive and the reference to my name is also without merit for the following reasons: I have never exchanged blows with anybody, let alone my Managing Director. Nowhere have I described the payment under reference as being fraudulent; I can hardly be described as being due for retirement, as I am nowhere near the compulsory retirement age of 60.”

She demanded an unqualified apology from the electronic news platform, saying “Under the circumstances, I hereby demand a retraction of the article and unqualified apology which should be done with the same prominence with which your publication was made by close of business at 5:00 pm on September 23, 2018.”
