Yinson launches scholarship programme for students in Takoradi

Ten senior high school students in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region have benefit from Yinson production`s scholarship scheme dubbed  the ‘Yinson Scholars Programme’.

Yinson Production West Africa Limited`s Scholarship will provide financial assistance for 10 senior high school students annually in the Ahanata West District. The programme targets students from low income households in Yinson’s host communities, namely Apowa, Kejabil and Pretea.

The scholarship covers a monthly stipend and basic necessities such as trunks, chop boxes, exercise books, text books, pillows, calculators, school bags and shoes.

Local Content and Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Yinson Production West Africa, Edward Mensah, presenting the award said “Yinson is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the local community where it was currently operating”.

“At Yinson, we believe in investing in the future generation by improving access to quality education. I wish to congratulate our scholarship recipient and I hope each of you will achieve the success that your heart desires,” he added.

Public Relations Officer for Ghana Education Service (GES) Ahanta West, Daniel Payne commended Yinson for the initiative “although there is free SHS, this will go a long way to support parents and guardians in purchasing text books and other supplementary”.

“This is the greatest opportunity that you can ever have; spend time to learn and make Yinson proud and encouraged parents to provide the needs of their wards” he added.

Nana Ebum, Queenmother of Kejebil urged students in the community to take their studies seriously so they can also benefit from the scholarship scheme.

Anthony Ammissah, Chairman for the ceremony also commended Yinson for the scholarship.

About Yinson production West Africa

Yinson Production, the Operators of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Floating Production Supply and Offloading (FPSO) unit was awarded the contract by ENI Ghana and its partners in January 2015.

 The FPSO is currently producing Oil and Gas from the OCTP block and will help supply power to Ghana for many years contributing significantly to Ghana’s energy need and economic growth.

b. The Provision of a Welding Training Center for the Takoradi Technical Institute together with an annual provision of consumables worth USD 15,000

c. Partners of Futurestars Charity. Futurestars deliversPhysical Educationand sports coaching to five schools in Tema.
